Hawaiian Arm Star Tattoos and Arm Band Tattoos - The New Tribal Tattoo
One of the biggest growth trends and the most in the art of tattoo design is Hawaiian arm star tattoos or leg tattoo of the band. As this trend is running a lot of people think for themselves, well of course. At least that's what I told myself at first. You can not drive more than 10 minutes on the freeway in southern California where I was from and did not see the big SUVs like the Lincoln Navigator or Cadillac Escalade and not see the sticker Hawaii. Things with flowers designs, or turtles, dolphins. Yes see it starts with the sticker and then the car seat covers with hibiscus flowers everywhere and just grew from there.
This trend of Hawaiian design has then met it in accordance with the movement of the entire tribal tattoos. Tribal tattoos have become the most in the tattoo world since sliced bread or school old World War II era Hula dancer. You see the effect has been around us for a long time my grandpa even has one of the Hula Girls tattoos still. Indeed it is a little saggy and faded now but he still has one in his arm fixed.
So the whole tribal tattoo and the growth in interest for Hawaiian designs have combined to create a hot and growing market for Hawaiian tattoos. This is truly a thing and come and not big yet. However many tattoo artists spotting trends and jump on it already.
Of course there is much controversy on this subject also like anything. If you look on the internet there is a controversy about getting Kanji and Japanese Tattoos also. Every time you try and take a design from a culture and do not depict them accurately it creates a sense of bastardization or what I call the Securities "Disney" against the culture. I mean how would you feel if you were in China and someone said, oh you should try out this hot new restaurant serving great food which is truly American. They have fried chicken and apple pie is the best "Well, at first you will be happy to correct.? Course it would be fun for a good home cooked meal if you've been out of U.S. for a long time. But once you get there you see the place has really tacky reproduction and horrible 50's art and all the food tastes kind of strange. It would probably bee kind of close or resemble what you're thinking of but it will lose something or a few main ingredients. I'm sure this will make your feel a little sad and like your culture is not fully understood.
Well, I can not speak for you and perhaps you will feel different but I'm pretty sad when after staying in Japan for three months I was invited to a classic burger joint in the 1950s. When we got there it was Elvis with a funny accent playing on the jukebox and when my hamburger came it was a fried egg on top with teriyaki sauce. WOW what a surprise for me. I kinda felt weird about being in a place that has tried to create something of their own culture.
Thus, the same controversy rolls on in the world of tattoos. Every time you get a tattoo design from another culture just make sure you go with a professional. Do not have your friends keep track of some Kanji in a book for a tattoo and did not go and rip some design of the internet because it states that it is Hawaii. Go to a real custom tattoo designer and they do research and come up with some designs. After all this will be in your body for the rest of your life and since Hawaiian's arm star tattoos and leg tattoos are usually large it will be a significant investment in pain, time and money to get things done. So, you should consult with a professional job done and get top notch. By Chris Ryerson
