Since I'm on a tag mood, do this tag from Pheng as well.

This new job is definitely the most challenging. I was in the workforce for 10+ years and decided to quit my job and join hubby here in Singapore mid last month. I have been taking care of the house, hubby and our little princess since then. Two weeks have passed and being a stay at home mom is definitely not the easiest! As I said to our friends, my client here is the most demanding. I have conquered the Japanese, the Greeks, I can manage a terrible two year old. =) I can do this!!

Pink Sisterhood

I rarely do tags. But the topic of this one is close to home.
My grandmother (nanay ng nanay ko) died of breast cancer 3yrs ago. So of all the diseases out there that I should be afraid of, this is the one I'm most afraid. My mom, me and Ela are of greater risk of this disease because of our medical history. I'm more afraid also because I always have benign cysts in my breast since I was in 1st yr college. Some were removed back in 1994 and everytime I have a breast u/s, the technician finds some. Most are small so my OB said it is ok not to remove them. But I always try to make sure to have a breast ultrasound every year.

Feeding set for babies

Before this picture acquires dust, I would like to share it to my blog readers (if there is any).

Saw this baby feeding set in the baby section of the most popular department store in the Manila. The feeding set looked nice - even nice enough to be a gift to some kid. But when we saw the back of the box, we were in shock!! After the scare a few months back, will you let any child feed from this? Que horror!!

Rockwell is turning Japanese-y

One thing I so love about Japan (and soooo miss right now) is its food.
True that the usual Japanese food is an acquired taste - I did not like miso soup the first time I tasted it - but once you loved it, you will want more!

On our first day as Intra-company assignee, Kayumi-san (hay... i also so miss this guy. he was like our dad there) took us to Pepper Lunch in Fuchu City for lunch. When I had the first bite of the famous Pepper Steak, I knew we will be coming back for more. This is the meal/resto where I can eat almost everyday - this we almost did! :P

Japan is also the place where you can find almost any kind/variation of chocolate. They have a LOT - especially when it is Valentine's day. On V-day the girls usually give chocolates to their male colleagues and friends. But it was not V-day when we tasted the best chocolate ever! Kitayama-san gave us Royce chocolates as omiyage from his hometown in Hokkaido. This is the chocolate that melts in your mouth and also on your hands. LOL.

Pepper Lunch is already available in Rockwell. Royce store will open soon. How I wish I could frequent Rockwell so I could eat PL and Royce chocolates everyday - goodbye diet! :P

(Thanks chuvaness.com for these wonderful updates.)

I want a new Digi-cam

I haven't been blogging much. I cannot even join LP coz I don't have a decent camera. And I want a new one - now!!

Saw this cute new Canon Digicam from ShopCrazy. I miss my CanonJP days. When new products from Canon is released, we always get the news first from the intranet. And I miss Japan where there are lots of electronics shops where I can play with these new toys first before buying.

But since this is from Canon, I don't really need to test this first. I'm still very loyal to that brand even if I already left the company. They have really good products.

Olympics Updates

I'm not really a big fan of the Olympic games. But since I can surf the net while in the office, and all homepages of search engines have Olympic updates, I browse some articles every now and then.
So far I'm loving the Yahoo! Sports blog Fourth Place Medal. They have these funny, witty insider articles about the games, the athletes and even the spectators. These pictures from Pres. Bush are so funny! Why does he look "abnoy" sometimes? Ampangit! :P

How I wish we have this law here in the Philippines. The TelCos are really taking advantage of the "tie-up" in their plans. Allergic to Tattoo Ink

Allergic reactions to tattoo pigments are fairly uncommon except for certain brands of red and green (with which some many people have a slight problem with itching, swelling, redness of the skin, oozing). People who are sensitive or allergic to certain metals may react to pigments in the skin by becoming swollen and/or itchy, oozing of clear sebum is also common. People with allergies should think carefully about getting a tattoo because of the risk of anaphylactic shock (hypersensitive reaction), which can be life threatening. Some tattoo artists give small tests, by marking a small amount of ink behind the ear to determine if that person has an allergic reaction.

What I learned today

I haven't blogged about this yet... but i transferred work (again). My work is now related to the airlines business. I love to travel, but I am definitely learning a lot from this new work. Among them:

Define: Direct Flight
Definitions of Direct Flight on the Web:
  • A flight on which passengers do not have to change planes, but may involve one more stops enroute.
    www.flyfromcanada.com/travel-terms.html
  • This is a tricky one. The term "direct flight" can actually be applied to any routing that maintains the same flight number throughout the entire course of the routing, even if the routing contains enroute stops or requires a change of airplane. Strange but true.
    www.flyertalk.com/glossary/
  • Definition: A flight that stops at another airport, but passengers do not change planes. An example of a direct flight is a passenger taking a direct flight from Boston to Dublin . ...
    mayfee1.tripod.com/safejurnee/id28.html
  • A flight which requires no change of plane from departure to destination, though the plane may make intermediate stops.

  • a flight with one or more intermediate stops but no change of aircraft
    wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn
  • A direct flight in the aviation industry is any flight between two points by an airline with no change in flight numbers or aircraft. Some sources consider a change in aircraft at the stop to also be a direct flight. A direct flight does not mean you can stay on the aircraft at any stops. ...
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct flight
  • A flight in which the passenger makes intermediate stops but does not change aircraft; A flight where the bird's altitude does not change significantly with each wing beat
    en.wiktionary.org/wiki/direct flight

  • I never know that you could make "stops" on a direct flight. Strange but true.

The 10th Tour of the Fireflies

I first saw about this at Cycle Shop in Megamall where we bought our bikes. When I heard about this on the radio, it said it will tour 7 cities. We thought it will be 7 cities outside of the metro so we said "we cant do that, that's too far". But when I finally remembered to check on their website, it is just 7 cities within the Metro - Pasig, Mandaluyong, Makati, Pasay, Manila, Quezon City, Marikina. And when I searched the net for previous tours, young and old and even just enthusiasts can join.
    Yey!
So me and hubby will sign up to join this tour on Sunday. I just hope I can bike the whole 50km. :P coz last Sunday when we tried our bikes for the 1st time, I can only bike 3 rounds of the UP Acad oval. Eniweys, I still have 3days to prepare for this.
I hope others could also join!
See you at the streets. :)

We visited my in-laws last night. There was a small "handaan" to celebrate Janip's graduation from elementary. Ate Tess, Janip's mom arrived from GenSan and brought seafoods. We loved the tuna sashimi. So fresh & yummy. Can't remember how many i had basta ito na lang natira sa plate. Hindi naman ako lang umubos pero madami ako nakain. Yum! Can't wait for our orders to arrive. We'll have a sashimi party.

It has been almost a month since this blog went online. I’m just one of the many who is linking his blog. They say his site has more than 50,000 visitors in a day. There is no entry in his blog with less than 100 comments in it. People are just asking for more.

The first time I visited his site, it was just a plain blog about ranting on his bad experience with his ex. Now it is getting ugly – and I’m getting tired reading them. I just visit once in a while just to see the pictures and browse on the comments when I am bored with my other sites I usually bloghop to. Or when I read a news article about it. It was on Inquirer, now on ABS-CBNnews, then it will be featured in a TV show on cable channel (too bad we don’t have that channel…). Everybody’s in it. Pinoys really like chismis that is why this blog is so “mabenta”.

Brian already has Google AdSense and other “money-making” links in his blog. Maybe he can earn back the $70K he lost thru earnings from his online advertisement.

Let's join the Earth Hour drive.
Yun nga lang, kami siguro, half join lang. It is difficult to do this when you have a toddler at home. Di sanay anak naming walang ilaw, electric fan at TV na naka-on. Kung hindi naka-on mga ito, sya na mismo mag-on (except lang siguro yung ilaw kasi di pa nya abot). Kaya siguro during the Earth Hour, itong tatlo lang ang naka-on sa bahay.

    TatToO MaChiNe

The modern tattoo machine is primarily a motor attached to a tube that contains a bar with a needle arrangement on the end. The motor pushes the needle up and down, up to three thousand punctures per minute. The depth is set very shallow, just down into the dermis layer, and the ink runs into the hole from the fountain-pen like tip of the tattoo machine. All of these little 'ink dots' that are in your skin make up the picture. Homemade tattoos, often done with single needles, leave teeny dots and it makes hundreds of punctures with a steady hand to get a clear line. Tattoos that get infected while healing are left with blotchy white areas where the ink “heals out” and you will have to get the tattoo redone or touched up to fix the damaged areas.

    Lotus Flower Symbol

The Lotus flower is symbolic of rebirth, but in addition to its religious meaning, the lotus is also a symbol of all that is true, good and beautiful, representing good fortune, peace and enlightenment.
In some belief systems, different coloured Lotus blooms have different symbolic meanings. There are white, blue, red and yellow lotuses described in ancient Indian sutras, or writings. Different colors have different meanings. White, for instance, represents "purity"; blue represents "goodness"; and red represents "enlightenment."

    Feather Tattoos

A single feather as a tattoo design may represent or symbolize the ability to take flight, either spiritually, emotionally or creatively.

Many Native American cultures held Eagle feathers to be sacred and they were seen as powerful symbols of Chiefs, Elders, Shamans, Healers and Medicine Men.

    Origin of the word TATTOO

The origins of the word "Tattoo", which comes from the Tahitian word "tatu" which translates as "to mark something".

How to Choose a Tattoo Design

First and foremost, always remember that a tattoo is permanent.
Consider why you want a tattoo or even a specific tattoo design. Does it symbolize some kind of transition in your life?Good or bad?
Learn the meaning behind certain designs. Not all tattoo designs have a meaning
Pick something that has meaning. Whatever you choose needs to be something you can be happy with for the rest of your life, so if it fits your personality, is a memorial to a lost loved one or something to symbolize your children or other loved one, then you're more likely not to regret it 10 years down the road.
Select the location on your body where you want your tattoo. The size and shape of the area can greatly affect the type of design you should choose.
Decide on what size you want it and what colors to use.

    Rose Tattoo Designs

A symbol of love, but especially of a love that is pure.

A symbol of passion, chastity, and purity, the rose reigns supreme as the

    most beloved of flowers.

How to Care & Feeding of Your New Tattoo

    Step 1
Keep the bandage on the tattoo for at least two hours after the work is complete (or longer, depending on the tattoo artist's instructions).
    Step 2
Remove the bandage very carefully and throw it away. This allows your skin to breathe and begin the healing process. Do not rebandage the tattoo.
    Step 3
Put a drop of mild antibiotic soap on your hand and lightly wash the tattoo. Gently pat it dry with a washcloth (not a paper towel) taking care not to rub it.
    Step 4
Dab an over-the-counter antibiotic ointment (like Neosporin) on the cleaned area.
    DO NOT re-bandage your tattoo
DO NOT use Vaseline or petroleum jelly
DO NOT use alcohol or peroxide
DO NOT pick or scratch tattoo
DO NOT soak tattoo in tub or shower
get in, get clean, get out!
Stay out of pools, hot tubs, oceans, etc. for two weeksKeep tattoo out of direct sunlight and/or tanning beds
You may, instead, prefer to use a good fragrance free lotion such as Lubriderm, Jergens or Eucerin. Apply a THIN layer and work in well 5 to 6 times a day for the entire healing process. DO NOT over lubricate your tattoo; however, don't let it dry out, either. Should any seepage occur, gently dab off excess with a clean paper towel.

    Dragon Tattoo Design

Dragons were said to represent the Four Elements, hence the stories and myths of dragons who had dominion over Air, Water, Earth and Fire.
The Dragon tattoo design symbolizes nobility, magic, the power of transformation and imagination, perseverance, loyalty, power & the ability to transcend the ordinary.
For those who conquer dragons, the dragon represents courage, bravery, duty, honour & the great quest.

    Lotus with AUM Tattoo

AUM is the primeval, audible and inaudible sound of Hindu creation, also thought to mysteriously embody the very essense of the universe. Chanted at the beginning and end of prayers and mantras and also used as a form of meditation, it is pronounced with three sounds, A-U-M.

Lotus, according to the Egyptians, it was the first flower of the universe, and from it sprang the first gods. Many of the ancient pillars of monumental architecture in Egypt are actually designed as bunches of lotuses.

In Hinduism, the lotus blossom is one of the most important symbols used in spirituality and art. Brahma, the Hindu creator of the world, was born from a lotus blossom that grew from the navel of Vishnu on the water. However, the lotus paired with Om has a particularly significant Buddhist association.

In Buddhism, the lotus is thought to symbolize the Buddha's nature, pure and ascendant.

Along with Aum, it is part of the most famous of Buddhist mantras

    Tattoo in the Chinese History

Tattoo is called "Wen Shen" or "Ci Shen" in Chinese. The term means literally "puncture the body".

Tattoo has been known and practised in China for many years. Many years ago, when a court finds a person guilty of a severe crime, it may order a tattoo be placed on his face, and bannishes him to a far-way place for a number of years. The tattoo on the face permantly marks the person as a criminal. The two-prone punishment is called "ci pei" (tattoo/exile).

    Sun Tattoo Symbolz.........

The sun is usually seen as a masculine symbol and the moon and the earth as feminine symbols, hence you will often the Sun symbolically paired with the Moon or the Earth. For many millennia the Sun was believed to be at the center of the Universe, around which all other heavenly bodies radiated. The Sun was a symbol of both royal and divine powers, adopted by both secular and religious authorities. As a tattoo design and symbol, a Sun represents fertility, vitality, passion, courage and eternally renewed youth, light and knowledge.
It seems like everyone has a tattoo these days.......

    TaTtoO?

A tattoo is an ink design inserted into the skin, commonly via a needle.A variety of pigments and inks are used in modern tattoo, ranging from traditional black to a wide range of colors. Some of the colors used for tattoo pigment may be toxic, raising concerns about extensive color work.
If you are concerned, ask the artist about what pigments he or she is using and whether any adverse reactions to the inks have been noticed. Many tattoos will also require touchup, as exposure to sunlight and water degrades the inks.

    Why Sakura Tattoo

    sakura-tattoo.blogspot.com

    so why the name?
can you see my pic in the profile?
what do you think? maganda ba? cool?

yes, that is a real tattoo. a real tattoo on MY back. i have been inked. and this is my first post about it.

i said that anything about me or about my family will be posted in my other blogs. so why am i sharing? just to add history to the blog.

first of all it is the year 2008. this year i will be turning 30. a big leap if you ask me. starting a new decade. (waaahhh tumatanda na ako.) and i would like to start a new me.

we were inspired by L.A. Ink in Discovery Travel and Living. we saw that tattoo was an art and an expression of one's self. we were inspired by other people who would have their tattoos as a reminder of things that happened in their life. and tattoo is not taboo anymore. many people are having it - even ladies.

and having a tattoo is my first adventure of the year. it took me a while to think of a good design. i wanted it to be symbolic. not just some design i saw in the net or on somebody else's body. something that would remind me of things that happened to me. so i thought of a design that would represent my life while i was in japan. so many good things happened to me there. things that i will never forget.

"In Japan, cherry petals/trees are a symbol for the beauty of transient things. It's the concept that when you know something is short lived, it makes you appreciate it more when it's around and adds to its beauty and sadness. " - WikiAnswers

so for me, this sakura tattoo symbolizes my short stay in japan. it was short, but very meaningful, beautiful and memorable experience.

for detailed kwento about having the tattoo, read my other blogs.
